. Florida Convention CentersClearwater Greater Area: This popular resort city, known for its sunshine and hospitality, offers a family atmosphere and fantastic amenities at affordable prices. Overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, Clearwater is one of the 26 diverse communities on the Pinellas Suncoast that comprise the premier vacation destination known as Florida's Beach. A sprawling city with a quaint downtown and many small shopping plazas, Clearwater is 12 miles north of St. Petersburg. HarborView Center Coral Springs City Centre Daytona Greater Area: The 23-mile long beach that hugs the Daytona Beach coastline has a unique distinction. Sixteen miles of the sand is hard enough to allow vehicles to drive on it during daylight hours. The beach facing the Atlantic Ocean is wide -- as much as 500 feet at low tide. It was this unusual quality of the beach that caught the eye of some early automobile pioneers in search of a location to test high powered engines they were developing for their cars. Ocean Center Fort Lauderdale Greater Area: Ft. Lauderdale bills itself as the "Venice of the Americas," and not without good reason. This is a city in which water makes up a significant part of the geography. In addition to having miles of unobstructed views of the Atlantic, the city is bisected by the Intracoastal waterway and the New River, both of which are honeycombed with finger canals. Not surprisingly, some of the most popular places to stay are either on the water or provide easy access to it. Fort Lauderdale/Broward Co. Convention Center Harborside Saint Lucie Co. Civic Center Jacksonville Greater Area: One of the state's oldest cities and a major port and commercial center, Jacksonville is called Florida's River City by the Sea. This is because it was settled along both sides of the St. Johns River where that body of water meets the Atlantic Ocean. The largest U.S. city in terms of square miles (840), Jacksonville includes the communities of Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, and Mayport. Prime F. Miami Beach Convention Center Coconut Grove Exhibition Center James L. Knight Center/Miami Convention Center Orlando Greater Area: With an estimated 40 million visitors a year, Orlando is one of the world's top vacation spots, if not the most visited place on the planet. And, it's no wonder why. It's the home of Disney World and Universal Studios. Most of those people come here with one goal in mind: to see Mickey Mouse. They're less unanimous about their lodging preferences. Still, some generalities hold true. Orange County Convention Center Tupperware Convention Center Manatee Convention & Civic Center Marina Civic Center Tampa Greater Area: Tampa sits at the cultural crossroads of the booming influx of the Hispanic community, the palm-laced white sands Gulf Coast, and the theme park appeal of Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, and several other tourist attractions. Throw in some serious business and convention action, and a sprawling university campus, and you've got lodging opportunities that run the gamut from leisure-friendly, to nuts-and-bolts basics, to high-end luxury, and everything in between.
